Sunday April 8, 2012

Easter Sunday, the beach was fairly empty in the morning. I think a lot of people have returned home or are in church. Chris wanted to visit the Easter Bunny so we hopped on our bikes and rode back to Florida .... about 16 km east of here.

The Easter bunny just happened to be at the Flora-Bama Lounge, Package and Oyster Bar.

This place straddles the Florida - Alabama border and was recently re-opened after extensive reconstruction as a result of hurricane Ivan. Quite an interesting decor, I would call it a mix of weathered and new pressure treated wood. Those who have been to Foxy's in the BVI's could identify with the ambience. (the main difference being autographed bras rather than panties hanging from the ceiling).

We stayed for a while to enjoy a burger and a couple of beers before making the return trip on our bikes. Of course the sea breeze had kicked in and we were again going into the wind.

We finished the afternoon snoozing on the beach then back to the condo to watch the end of the Masters.

Tomorrow we are off to stay in a cottage in a State Park on Lake Pontchartrain for a couple of days so the blog will be on hiatus as I suspect we will not have an internet connection until we get to New Orleans.
