Wednesday April 4, 2012

After our second night in Aunt Martha's B&B we had another great breakfast that included grits that were prepared in a way that actually made them edible! This morning, there were eight other guests for breakfast including some from France and Germany. We had a good breakfast conversation and then I had to take our vehicle into the local dealer for routine service and repair a slow leak in one of the tires. Apparently, it had a nail in it.

We left Fort Walton Beach at 12:30 and followed the coast highway to Gulf Shores AL. It was raining for part of the trip. We passed through Pensacola FL which, aside from a Historic Downtown, seemed to be mostly a collection of Thrift Shops and Used Car Lots.

Gulf shores is about 10 miles inside of Alabama. Here we are entering the state.

We got into our condo at around 3:30. Right on the beach next to the State Park.

The unit is OK, one bedroom two bath. A little tired. I'd give it 2 stars. However, we have a great view of the beach and huge fishing pier at the adjacent Gulf State Park.

The traffic seems to be fairly busy with spring break people here also. We took advantage of the cool, windy, overcast weather to make a quick trip to Walmart to stock up on some food for the next few days. The sun goes down fairly early here since we are on the east end of the Central Time Zone. A bit overcast at sunset ....

However, it did clear a bit for moon rise over the fishing pier ....
